
Nicole Providoli
Nicole Providoli, Swiss citizen, born in 1972, has a degree in Sociology of the University of Geneva (1992-1995) and a Law degree, obtained at the University of Fribourg (1995-2000). From 2001 to 2003 she worked as a lawyer in the Directorate of International Law of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA. In May 2003 she joined the diplomatic service of the FDFA and was assigned as a trainee at the Swiss Embassy in Santiago de Chile.
From 2004 to 2005 she worked within the Economic Cooperation and Development division of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) in Berne, followed by a work experience in the Integration Office FDFA/FDEA (2005-2008), which was responsible for the coordination of Swiss policy on the European Union (now the Europe Division of the FDFA State Secretariat).
From 2008 to 2012 she worked as First Secretary at the Swiss Embassy in Cairo, Egypt and from 2012 to 2015 as Deputy Head of Mission at the Swiss Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia. In 2015 she returned to Berne and worked in the fields of mediation and peace promotion at the FDFA’s Human Security Division (now the Peace and Human Rights Division of the FDFA State Secretariat). From 2019 to 2024 she worked as Deputy Head of Mission at the Swiss Embassy in Paris. Since September 2024 she is Swiss Ambassador to Tanzania.
